Restaurant in Forfar

When you want a high quality and friendly restaurant in Forfar look no further than The Castle Club. Our family run venue was established in 1987 in a partnership between Fred and Linda McBride and our two sons Andy, our head chef and Mark, the bar manager. Our menus vary from plain Scottish fare to dishes with a Continental or Asian twist. All our food is cooked on the premises and made with fresh local ingredients.

Our customer base varies from business people to caravanners and tourists as the "Caravan Club" occupies a site adjacent to Forfar Loch and the local B&B's also frequently recommend our name. We cater for families, with children welcome subject to licensing laws and young and old couples celebrating or simply enjoying a night out. We have a wine list to satisfy most tastes at reasonable price, sold by the glass or the bottle.

We offer:

  • Snacks and Lunches 12.00 till 2.00 mon -sat
  • High Teas 5.00 till 6.30 mon-sat
  • Evening Meals 6.30 till 9.00 mon-sat.

Quality Dining Experience in Angus

Our location within the town of Forfar in the county town of Angus gives easy access to Glen Isla, Glen Prosen and other beauty spots. Forfar has its own one hundred year old golf course and there are other courses within a half hours drive vis:- Kirriemuir, Strathmore, Glen Isla, Alyth, the qualifying course at Monifieth and the world famous Carnoustie.

Four miles west is Glamis Castle the ancestral home of the Boyes -Lyon family of which the late Queen mother was a member. She was raised and grew up at Glamis before she later became the wife of King George the Sixth. The Castle also hosts an annual "prom" which includes performances by the Scottish National Orchestra playing classical music accompanied by firework displays etc.

The loch supports a variety of bird life and has sailing facilities. Visitors to the area can stay in the caravan park which is unique as it is practically in the town itself and is easy walking distance to the town centre. The other loch is Rascobie Loch which is popular with angler as it is well stocked with trout and is approximately three miles out of town.
The area is steeped in Pictish history. The "Standing Stones" at Aberlemno give testimony to Pictish existence and culture. The Meffan Gallery and Museum is a fountain of knowledge in that regard.

The town of Forfar and surrounding area has much to offer to the discerning traveller and The Castle Club alike can provide an excellent experience in dining out in Forfar.
